Introduction

John Butler was commissioned by Westerlys to come up with some designs for fast fin-keeled cruising yachts and the Cirrus was the most successful. It hit the spot so to speak with the Westerly public of the late 60s being just the right size and price. The Cirrus had proper headroom, 4 decent size berths, and an inboard engine. As such she was ideal for family cruising, with the added plus that she was also a very successful racing craft as well. In just 5 years 398 boats were sold.
