Introduction

The first Westerly yachts to be designed solely to attract racing owners wanting performance rather than general cruising yachts. A joint design by Laurent Giles and Chris Hawkins, they were offered in various stages of completion for the DIYer to finish at home. They were also offered with the options of masthead or fractional rigs, and deep racing fin keel or a smaller shallow draft fin keel. There was also accomodation for 4 crew to live, so also appealed to the racing family man but there was very little headroom.

Owners were inventive with their boat names choosing the GK for titles for example: Ginger Knut, Giddy Kipper, Good Knight, Get Knotted, Goodness Knows etc., etc
